Taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream forward of Digital India, Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has started issuing tickets to tourists through a swipe machine on 65 premium buses on an experimental basis. Through this facility, the travellers will be able to get the ticket from the POS machine with their debit card, credit card or QR code. According to GSRTC, this facility is currently available in 65 Volvo and AC category premium buses. They will added in another 45 buses in the coming days. Later, the facility will be made operational in all the buses. GSRTC launched an online passenger reservation system in 2005 and its website was launched in 2012. The IOS and Android application was launched in 2015 through which phone booking, change in booking, link service, features like e-wallet have been activated.
