For years, music festivals were a given once summer rolled into the Chicago area. Until the COVID-19 pandemic hit, that is.
And while last year marked a tentative return to the crowds and multistage musical extravaganzas, organizers are on full blast this year, even introducing some new events alongside the area's summer staples.
Here's a look at what festgoers have to look forward to during what are arguably the area's best months for music.
Note: Versa Fest's Chicago debut, set for June 11-12, has been called off, and Spring Awakening, planned for July 8-10, has been postponed until 2023.

If you're into camping out and listening to music (funk, jams, electronic, rock), Summer Camp is your weekend vibe. A diverse mix of artists make the Summer Camp festival their destination every year, and with camping and RV accommodations, the fans pile in to frolic in the forest.

The Blues on the Fox Festival returns after a two-year hiatus for its 24th edition, which coincides with the city of Aurora's "Party on the Promenade" at the new Wilder Park Promenade at 350 N. River St., across the bridge from RiverEdge Park.
